From Reorganisation to Delivery: Workforce, Culture, Regulation, Leadership, and Productivity
Join UK Healthcare and Life Sciences Innovation (UKHLSI) and Curia for the third session in our NHS Modernisation Bill member evidence series, focused on workforce, culture, regulation, leadership and productivity.
This members only roundtable will bring together UKHLSI and Curia members, NHS leaders, workforce experts, frontline professionals and policy stakeholders to explore whether the health and care workforce has the capacity, skills and support needed to deliver reform effectively. Lunch is provided. Online dial in will take place 12.30-1.30pm
The workforce has been identified as one of the most significant factors in determining whether the Bill succeeds in practice. If managed well, reform could reduce unnecessary administrative burdens, support new ways of working and enable staff to focus more time on delivering better care.
However, structural reform will only succeed if the workforce is supported through the transition. The proposals raise important questions around capacity, morale, retention, leadership, organisational culture, workforce planning, and productivity. They must also recognise the interdependence between the NHS, social care, community services, and public health. The discussion will consider:
• What workforce capacity, skills and leadership will be required to implement the Bill safely and effectively
• How NHS, social care, community and public health workforce planning can become more closely aligned
• How experienced staff can be retained and morale protected during structural change
• How technology, data, and artificial intelligence can reduce administrative burdens and support productivity
• How productivity should be measured through better care, staff experience and outcomes, rather than activity alone
The session will inform a member recommendations paper on workforce capacity, skills, planning, retention, organisational culture, leadership, technology, productivity, and the practical implementation of the NHS Modernisation Bill.
This event is part of UKHLSI and Curia’s wider programme of member engagement on the NHS Modernisation Bill, moving the conversation from legislation to implementation.
